Real accidents and urban legends are the two things that make Kirby Road a perfect place for ghost hunting and curious visitors.
A terrible car accident on November 1, 1993 left Selina Degasperis dead and her sister and her friend injured.

A tombstone was left as a memorial of her, where her body was found. After many reports in the area of odd activity, such as people claiming to see a woman sitting under/ on a tree. The police were forced to take it away because they figured that if they removed the tombstone Selina’s spirit would follow it.

Selina’s accident took place at the Intersection of Kirby Road and Pine Valley Drive. Legends say that if you visit this spot today you can hear Selina yelling and also tapping on your car windows.
There is another urban legend about a semi truck with only one working headlight that passes under the bridge on Kirby Road. People have said that the pickup truck will drive past unwanted guests in an attempt to get them to leave the area.

Though many people online say they experienced the semi truck there is no way to prove that these stories are true.
Another common story from Kirby road is the “hell house”. It is the legend that the barn beside the farmhouse was the location of many KKK meetings.

The story goes that the father of the household went crazy and killed his family. The reason behind the murders is not clear. Some urban legends suggest that his daughter was dating an African-American man and that provoked the father. This story can neither be confirmed or denied in research. After issues with many people trespassing to explore the barn, it has since been torn down.
In 2016 “The Haunted house on Kirby Road” became a movie

The movie is fiction and is not based on any of the urban legends surrounding Kirby Road. It did cause the area to become more explored because teens who watched this movie would then want to see the area themselves.
Many people have documented their Investigations of Kirby Road on the internet.
An interesting blog post
Although this post dates back to 2008 and is not the most up to date, she still claims to have witnessed paranormal activity. Also because the house and barn were still around at this time she has photos of those locations.
A more recent video from Kirby road
The man recording claims that in the video you can see a burst of light that could be a ghost. All though there is no proof that this is a real ghost sighting it does give the viewer an eerie feeling. This video is the most recent on the subject.
On Thursday April 4th 2019 we set out to debunk the urban legends of Kirby Road.

The story of Selina
After driving on this road myself I can say that I am not surprised that accidents have taken place here in the past. The road has many turns and the condition of the road itself is poor. There are also not many street lights making it difficult to see what is coming ahead. We did not witness any of the signs of Selina’s ghost, and therefore feel that this theory is debunked. Without doing prior research it would be unlikely that you would even be able to find the intersection the accident took place.

Hell House
Hell House has been torn down due to issues from trespassers and complaints from the residents. Driving along the road there is certainly an eerie feeling, but at this time because there is no barn or house to explore. It is unclear whether those areas still have the paranormal activity they were said to have had at one time.
One head light semi truck
Although we did not see a semi truck on Kirby Road, while reading other blogs we found that that many people have captured some interesting audio under the Kirby Road underpass . We decided that we would record audio, and when we didn’t hear any noise, other than us breathing and the car running we would be able to debunk this theory. Once I hit record we could suddenly hear a voice the sounds like it is screaming out someone’s name. We both tried to rationalize where the yelling could be coming from but we both soon realized that other than one little wooded area we were beside open fields and a highway. With no other cars in the area, we have no way to explain where the yelling came from but it was definitely very creepy.
After visiting Kirby Road we do not feel that this road is haunted. Although we did face creepy encounters we feel that most of the stories still reported now are from people who want to keep this idea of the haunted road alive. We are not saying that we would feel comfortable driving this road alone at night. We just do not feel that there is anything too harmful on Kirby Road. This leaves further investigation up to you… do you feel that Kirby Road is haunted? Was haunted? Or are these only urban legends?
